What is the mission of your organization?

Our vision is a partnership with Camp Washington (our neighborhood) to create a community that is safe and clean where people have enough food, decent housing, opportunities for education and work, and live in an environment that nurtures all families.

We accomplish this through our various outreach ministries.

Which social causes (up to 3 choices) does your agency address through its programming? *
  • (5) Education
  • (9) Hunger
  • (11) Poverty
Any comments about your selections you would like to share with the student philanthropists?
Our various programs fulfill needs in a variety of areas.
All of our programs serve people living in poverty, including the homeless. The majority of people we serve live in our own neighborhood of Camp Washington and nearby neighborhoods.- A free “store” where people can come get groceries, clothes, and household appliances.
– Community lunch every day Monday-Thursday where people come in and receive a hot meal. About 1000 meals are given out each month.
-Homework club is our after-school tutoring program Monday-Wednesday during the school year where each child receives a meal and is paired with a volunteer tutor to help them with their homework and other academic enrichment
-Summer Program is a 6 week program during the summer where elementary school students participate in outdoor recreation, arts and crafts, hear from educational guest speakers, and go on a weekly field trip. Each child also receives breakfast and lunch.
-We also have several seasonal programs. For example, we give out Thanksgiving meals including a turkey (89 this year). And our Christmas program provides over 300 kids with toys and clothes.

Through these programs, especially our children’s programs, we have created a meaningful community of volunteers and the people we serve.

Does your organization have volunteer opportunities available for students? *
Yes, Grades 6 – 12
List possible volunteer opportunities -or- a link to where they can be found on the web.
We have seasonal opportunities such as helping out with our Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions to families. We are also always open to forming additional partnerships with students willing to host a food drive, or other fundraiser. Contact us if you are interested in collaborating.

All of our programs rely on volunteers, however most of them occur during the school day. But students are welcome to come on days off and summer break. Community lunch volunteering is from 9:30-12:30 Monday-Thursday.
High School seniors are also able to volunteer as tutors to elementary school students at Homework Club. Homework Club occurs from 4:00-5:30, Monday-Wednesday during the school year.

Please reach out and we can find an opportunity for you!
