What is the mission of your organization?
We, the brothers and sisters of The Heights Movement, believe that we have an absolute duty to protect the well-being of our community, to invest in the future success of our youth, and, most importantly, to ensure that the Village of Lincoln Heights returns to its former glory economically.
We are committed to academic excellence, economic justice, and public health by creating initiatives that drive change in our storied community. Our purpose is intergenerational unity around the issues that have plagued our Village since its inception including, but not limited to, economic isolation and civil rights abuses perpetrated by many of our so-called neighbors. We are here to empower our people and provide talent, time, and treasure to the restoration of our beloved and historic neighborhood. Our mission is to always lead with love, always keep our hearts and minds open to hear the needs of the people, and to consult our elders who are earnest in their commitment to the systemic change in our community that is long overdue. We believe The Heights Movement is here to serve the entire community. Our mission and core beliefs fuel our commitment to promoting safe, positive and inclusive environments for all. The Heights Movement supports all residents – of every race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status, and religion – with the goal of helping LH attain their full potential. |

Which social causes (up to 3 choices) does your agency address through its programming? * |
|
Any comments about your selections you would like to share with the student philanthropists?
For The Heights Movement, the top three social causes we address through our programming are:
Education – We are deeply committed to academic excellence, youth development, and workforce preparation. Through programs like our 4-H initiatives, financial literacy classes, and hands-on agricultural education, we create opportunities for young people to develop the knowledge and skills they need for success. Equality & Social Justice (Equity and Inclusion) – Our mission is rooted in economic justice and community empowerment. We work to address systemic inequities by ensuring that all residents of Lincoln Heights, regardless of background, have access to resources, opportunities, and spaces that foster intergenerational unity and self-sufficiency. Health – We prioritize community well-being through urban agriculture, nutrition education, and mental health initiatives. Our focus on public health extends beyond food security to include physical fitness, wellness education, and holistic approaches to sustainable living. Comments: We appreciate this opportunity to collaborate with student philanthropists who share a vision of empowerment and transformation. Let’s build a future where every resident of Lincoln Heights thrives! |
