What is the mission of your organization?
Housing. Help. Hope
At Shelterhouse (formerly the Drop Inn Center), our mission is simple – as a community of residents, staff and volunteers, we work together to provide basic human services for the men and women of the Greater Cincinnati area who are experiencing homelessness. Our primary commitment is to shelter – offering a place to stay for those in need now, and helping find and maintain a permanent place of residence for the future.
For those who don’t have to imagine what it’s like to be hungry, alone, frightened, homeless, people for whom this is a reality, Shelterhouse is a place they can turn to – for hope, for help.
Which social causes (up to 3 choices) does your agency address through its programming? *
  • (7) Equality & Social Justice
  • (9) Hunger
  • (13) Veterans & Military Service
Any comments about your selections you would like to share with the student philanthropists? Our goal is ensure that our clients receive affordable housing. We also provide 3 meals a day at both our shelters, the Esther Marie Hatton Center for Women and the David Rebecca and Barron Center for Men. We also provide assistance for homeless veterans.
Does your organization have volunteer opportunities available for students? * Yes, Grades 9 – 12
List possible volunteer opportunities -or- a link to where they can be found on the web. I tried to choose all three. We have volunteer projects for school aged students with chaperone assistance.
• Sort and organize donations
• Provide ingredients and prepare baked goods in our state-of-the-art kitchen
