Any comments about your selections you would like to share with the student philanthropists?
— The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra believes music is a gift for everyone.

— The arts and music, in particular, are integral to a high quality of life.
An individual’s ability to make, enjoy and share music should not be limited or impeded.

— Great music is transformative and healing, and therefore is about and for all citizens, not just those who can simply afford it, or have been fortunate to have been exposed to it throughout their formative years.

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (KSO) fulfills its mission by reaches 25,000 people annually through 3 series of concerts:

– Free Summer Park Series (July to September) in Devou and Tower parks in NKY.

– Free Educational Series (students grades 3-12) (October -May) and

– An affordably priced ($9.50 – $35) Subscription Series offers five unique, thematic programming on the campus of NKU

Does your organization have volunteer opportunities available for students? *
Yes, Grades 9 – 12
List possible volunteer opportunities -or- a link to where they can be found on the web.
Volunteer opportunities are published on the KSO website —  https://kyso.org/support/volunteer-opportunties/

It takes the dedicated efforts of many individuals to bring the KSO’s people-centered approach to symphonic music to the community. Volunteers are typically needed in these areas:

Production — Ticket takers, ushers, program distributing, box office workers and concessions/promotion workers are needed the day of show at venues such as Greaves Concert Hall on the campus of NKU (October to May) and Devou & Tower Park (July to September.)

Technical — Stage crew

Special Projects — Volunteers are needed for poster distribution, mass mailings, etc.

Other — The KSO welcomes volunteers with special skills such as marketing (including social media/video), public relations, fundraising, etc.

Typically those volunteers 14 years of age and under must have a parent or guardian on site during the concert in order to volunteer (e.g., either volunteering themselves OR attending the concert.)

Volunteer training takes place at the beginning of the volunteer shift, so there is no need to attend separate training on a different date. Up to date volunteer opportunites can be found by clicking the “Sign up to Volunteer Now” button on KSO’s website.
