Food insecurity contributes to and results from a number poverty-related issues. Food deserts in the poorest neighborhoods breed inadequate food sources perpetuating chronic illnesses and issues with mental health, which detracts from school performance. Poorly educated individuals are less likely to be prepared to step into good paying jobs. Thus, poverty becomes an unending cycle with food insecurity a primary indicator.

Does your organization have volunteer opportunities available for students? * |
Yes, Grades 9 – 12

Students may be able to volunteer to pack and distribute bags of food at our Mid-Town Market pantry. These are emergency food relief packages that help to avoid the severity of hunger. Student will have the opportunity to interact with people that may be no different than themselves, except for a single hiccough or missed opportunity that left them food insecure.
