KAREfarm, as the retreat center was built from the ground up, was supported by the children in our lives. Kids can do amazing things! They have helped clear fields for campsites, haul boards to build platforms, and each season help set up and take down our tents. They wanted to engage because this is a living remembrance of the family they loved and has passed away, but also because this is a place that can help other people that are really hurting. We want people to leave a KAREfarm retreat with new skills that they can take back to their lives and care for their own families. Loss is a part of life, and because we love our family and friends, when we lose them it really hurts. At KAREfarm, we want to help families be able to reinvest and live purposefully while honoring their lost loved ones, and hopefully helping others along the way. We look forward to working with you!
Does your organization have volunteer opportunities available for students? * | Yes, Grades 6 – 12 |
List possible volunteer opportunities -or- a link to where they can be found on the web.
On site volunteer opportunities are available to set up and tear down for retreat weekends as well as farm work time, where we complete small projects such as; planting trees/flowers and general landscaping, staining wood for platforms, and meal prep. Our volunteers can create a collection for retreat weekend materials as the weekend needs change based on our guests. Since we are at no cost to anybody dealing with grief, fundraising is very important so we can continue to remove any barrier for those in need of help. We have our Annual Hoops, Hops, and Hope March Madness fundraiser, merch store (this is actually run by a high school senior and daughter of one of the co-founders!!!!), Giving Tuesday initiative, multiple raffles, and sponsorship opportunities that we are always looking for new ideas and ways to expand.
