| Founded in 2005, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball (PIFBS) increases access to baseball and softball for under-resourced children by providing grants of equipment directly to leagues, teams, schools, and community organizations to ensure that equipment is never a barrier to play. PIFBS believes that baseball and softball are more than just a game, that they have the power to change lives, bring communities together, and helps contribute to positive youth development by instilling invaluable life skills. Our mission is to give the gift of play and contribute to positive youth development by providing equipment to leagues and communities worldwide. PIFBS achieves our mission through the following strategies: • Domestic and International Equipment Grants—designed to help leagues, teams, and community organizations anywhere get the proper equipment to play baseball and softball. Grantees complete required annual reporting detailing the impact of the donation. • School-Based Program—Helps schools/districts stretch budgets, reduce fees, and shift funds to other areas such as transportation. Schools provide data on the number of students with improved grades/attendance during the season. • Disaster Relief Program—In times of tragedy, children are the most affected; baseball/softball can help to restore a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos. PIFBS has assisted with relief efforts in NY/NJ shoreline following Hurricane Sandy; Joplin, MO; the Gulf Coast region; Japan; and most recently, Puerto Rico. • Targeted Programming – PIFBS works with partners to identify communities of interest and scope of project. PIFBS manages all components from program development to measuring impact based on partners’ charitable interests.The economic fallout from the pandemic coupled with the increased equipment expenses as a result of the CDC’s requirements for safe return to play prohibits sharing of equipment has resulted in a spike in the amount requested in each equipment grant application. |

| On an annual basis, Pitch In For Baseball & Softball approves more than 600 equipment grants helping nearly 100,000 children play ball. Since 2005, PIFBS has helped nearly one million children get on the field in 110 countries globally and every state within the U.S.
In order to achieve our mission, we receive donations of both new and gently used equipment. The near gear comes predominately from manufacturer partnerships and the used equipment comes to us from the efforts of baseball and softball fans across the country. About 50% of the equipment we donate every year comes from the efforts of children and students who love the game and want to help give other kids a chance to play by removing equipment as a barrier. PIFBS supports the charitable efforts for nearly 200 children annually. |
