What is the mission of your organization?
Joshua’s Place exist to help individuals and families overcome the barriers in their lives that cause instability. We look first at what our community and the individuals we serve have to offer versus just what they lack. We work to preserve that individual’s worth by only doing help that preserves dignity and promotes personal engagement. We measure the help we provide to ensure we are not perpetuating dependency and avoid being viewed as parental figures in the lives of the adults we serve. We know that poverty is often perpetuated by addiction so we focus much of our energy to the cause of recovery.
Which social causes (up to 3 choices) does your agency address through its programming? * |
|
Any comments about your selections you would like to share with the student philanthropists? | We are laser focused on not doing help that hurts those we work alongside of. We education all of our volunteers as well on what that looks like. We believe that poverty is not just the lack of financial and materials means. We look at it as brokenness and we are all broken in some way. It is through that brokenness that we can connect no matter what our background is. We also focus our work in the schools in our district. We are in 5 school districts; Mason, Lebanon, Little Miami, Kings and Deer Park. We provide numerous programs to assist the schools, their students and their families. |
