COF improves wellbeing and reentry outcomes for women through safe housing, wraparound services, programming to strengthen families, and targeted workforce and life-skills training. Guided by lived experience, we also support incarcerated women and advocate for policies that promote successful reintegration statewide.

Constructing Our Future primarily serves formerly incarcerated women—and by extension, their children—by providing safe, stable housing alongside comprehensive wraparound services and targeted educational programming. Our life skills curriculum includes financial literacy, workplace readiness, conflict resolution, domestic violence awareness, and other practical tools that support women in building stable, sustainable lives after incarceration.
COF operates a welcoming, non-carceral home environment where residents are afforded both time and dignity to heal and grow. Women may reside with us for six months to two years—or longer when needed—while receiving consistent support to stabilize, strengthen their capacities, and transition into permanent housing.
Our work is fundamentally rooted in social justice and equality. Women impacted by the criminal legal system face severe collateral consequences of conviction and poverty, including barriers to housing, employment, healthcare, and family reunification—conditions that significantly increase the risk of instability and recidivism. COF works daily to counter these systemic inequities by addressing root causes, restoring access to essential resources, and supporting women’s long-term well-being and self-determination.

Annually we pack basic hygiene and hair care products for 650 – 700 incarcerated women at Christmas. It is a lot of work, but very fulfilling. Check out our work in 2025: https://www.constructingourfuture.com/blog-news/5th-annual-christmas-gift-packing-for-the-indiana-womens-prison
