The Wilmington Area Humane Society (WAHS) is an all-volunteer non-profit formed in 2002. WAHS operates a shelter/adoption facility which takes in and cares for cats and dogs. After a vet check, immunizations and if over 12 weeks of age, spayed or neutered, the pets are placed for adoption. Dogs and cats are acquired by owner release, cats dropped off at our facility plus dogs also come from the Clinton County Dog Warden. We have in excess of 45 volunteers that feed, socialize and exercise dogs and cats in our adoption program, others who clean & do upkeep on the facility plus those who take on specialized projects such as pet photography, education of the public concerning animal care and more. Humane education programs are offered and we help local residents with lost & found pets by posting lost and found pet notices on our Facebook page. | |
